Day 136 - February 14, 2013: Valentine's Day and anchorage at Lantana
Valentine's Day is a chance to express my love and appreciation to Anne. This has been a special year, and she has fully supported this wonderful trip.

A rose given to my sweetheart |
Bahia Mar is termed a "Luxury Marina" with pool and pool bar, health club, tennis courts, resort stores, hotel tower and restaurant, deli, gardens, and yacht brokerages, and a short walk across the street to the ocean beaches. Of course, that all comes with a fee, and this is one of the most expensive places so far on the loop!
After another bike ride along the coast, and stopping to see the Fort Lauderdale International Swimming Hall of Fame, we headed north from Bahia Mar to an anchorage at Lantana. During the trip we passed several hundred luxury homes of the type shown below, probably all in the $2M to $10M range. All this time, we did not see a single person at or around any of the homes (except for gardeners or workmen). We wonder who owns these and why so many seem to be absent?

A winter getaway? |

Just a second home and boat? |
It rained on and off along the way, but the rain paused just long enough for us to get settled before dark. Tonight, we have a thunderstorm and heavy rain forecast, so we battened down the hatches before enjoying our Valentine's dinner on board. What a unique and special setting!
