Day 156 - March 6, 2013: A tour of Jacksonville and final packing for Michigan
Bill and Linda drove up to takes us on a tour of the area. Since Anne wasn't feeling well (a cold I probably gave to her), she reluctantly stayed on the boat to ensure she gets well. We saw the Jacksonville Nas/Towers Field and Naval Complex where Bill had a seven-year tour some years back. Then, we took a large circle route across the St. John's River and ICW and up through the beach cities, ate lunch at Blackfinn in the St. John's Town Center, and wound our way back up through downtown to our marina. I got a very good overview of this very large metropolitan area. Thanks!
Today is our 156th day on The Great Loop!
We have traveled 3,335 miles, which is about half way around our planned circle! That is an average of 21.4 miles a day. We have been in 57 marinas, 30 anchorages, and 1 overnight in the Gulf along the way. It seems that time is passing too quickly as we enjoy this great adventure.
Early tomorrow morning, we are flying back to Michigan and hope the current storms crossing the northeast will not delay our flights. We have high confidence that Great Laker will be very safe here in this marina.
The Adventures of Great Laker blog will begin again when we return on March 19.
Hurry back. We miss our nightly reading
