Day 98 - January 7, 2013: Titanic Artifact Exhibition and Les Miserables

About 100 years ago, on April 15, 1912, the Titanic sank in the north Atlantic after colliding with an iceberg. Over 1,500 lives were lost on the world's largest ship, which was considered by many to be unsinkable. The Titanic Artifact Exhibition, currently here in St. Petersburg, showcases more than 125 items gathered from the ship's debris field. What was most interesting were the amazing stories about the people who were aboard,  how they got there, and whether or how they survived.

I'm not sure you should go to this exhibit while on a 6,500 mile cruise in a boat that could fit inside one of the Titanic's life boats. It gets your imagination working and makes you nervous. Next time out, we will do man overboard drills and practice throwing the life ring!

Then we went to see Les Miserables, the movie. No matter how many times you may have seen the musical, this version has incredible impact and seems so much more realistic. With a great cast, great singing, beautiful backup music and captivating photographic work, this is an Academy Award winner.
